【摘要】:Theprimaryobjectivesofworkatlow-levelradioactivewastesitesaretheprotectionofpersonnel,preventionofthespreadofcontamination,minimizationofadditionalwastes,protectionofsampledataquality,andtheunconditionalreleaseofequipmentused.Preventingthecontaminationofequipmentusedatlow-levelradioactivewastesitesandthedecontaminationofcontaminatedequipmentarekeyaspectsofachievingthesegoals.Thispracticeprovidesguidanceintheplanningofworktopreventcontaminationandwhennecessary,forthedecontaminationofequipmentthathasbecomecontaminated.Thebenefitsinclude:5.3.1Minimizingthespreadofcontaminationwithinasiteandpreventingthespreadoutsideoftheworkarea.5.3.2Reducingthepotentialexposureofworkersduringtheworkandthesubsequentdecontaminationofequipment.5.3.3Minimizingtheamountsofadditionalwastesgeneratedduringthework,includingliquid,ormixedwastes,includingseparationofthewastetypes,suchasprotectiveclothing,cleaningequipment,cleaningsolutions,andprotectivewrapsanddrapes.5.3.4Improvingthequalityofsampledataandreliability.Thispracticemaynotbeapplicabletoalllow-levelradioactivewastesites,suchassitescontaininglow-levelradioactivewastesmixedwithchemicalorreactivewastes.Fieldpersonnel,withassistancefromtrainedradiologicalcontrolprofessionals,shouldhavetheflexibilitytomodifythedecontaminationprocedureswithdueconsiderationforthesamplingobjectives,orifpastexperiencesupportsalternativeproceduresforcontaminationprotectionordecontamination.Thispracticedoesnotaddressthemonitoring,protection,ordecontaminationofpersonnelworkingwithlow-levelradioactivewastes.Thispracticedoesnotaddressregulatoryrequirementsthatmaycontrolorrestrictwork,theneedforpermitsorregulatoryapprovals,ortheaccumulationorhandlingofgeneratedwastes.1.1Thispracticecoversthedecontaminationoffieldequipmentusedinthesamplingofsoils,soilgas,sludges,surfacewater,andgroundwateratwastesitesknownorsuspectedofcontaininglowlevelradioactivewastes.1.2Thispracticeisapplicableatsiteswherelowlevelradioactivewastesareknownorsuspectedtoexist.Thispracticemayalsobeapplicableforthedecontaminationofequipmentusedinknownorsuspectedtransuranic,ormixedwasteswhenusedbyitselforinconjunctionwithPracticeD5088.1.3Proceduresarecontainedinthispracticeforthedecontaminationofequipmentthatcomesintocontactwiththesamplematrix(samplecontactingequipment),andforancillaryequipmentthathasnotcontactedthesample,butmayhavebecomecontaminatedduringuse(non-contactingequipment).1.4Thispracticeisapplicabletomostconventionalsamplingequipmentconstructedofmetallicandhard,smoothsyntheticmaterials.Materialswithroughorporoussurfaces,orhavingahighsorptionrateshouldnotbeusedinradioactivewastesamplingduetothedifficultieswithdecontamination.1.5Inthosecaseswheresamplingwillbeperiodicallyperformed,suchassamplingofwells,considerationshouldbegiventotheuseofdedicatedsamplingequipmentiflegitimateconcernsexistfortheproductionofundesirableorunmanageablewastebyproducts,orboth,duringthedecontaminationoftoolsandequipment.1.6Thispracticedoesnotaddressregulatoryrequirementsforpersonnelprotectionordecontamination,orforthehandling,labeling,shippingorstoringofwastes,orsamples.Specificradiologicalreleaserequirementsandlimitsmustbedeterminedbyusersinaccordancewithlocal,stateandfederalregulations.1.7Foradditionalinformations......
