【摘要】:Amajorfactoraffectingthelongtermperformanceofinsulatingmaterialsisthermaldegradation.Otherfactors,suchasmoistureandvibration,maycausefailuresafterthematerialhasbeenweakenedbythermaldegradation.Anelectricalinsulatingvarnishiseffectiveinprotectingelectricalequipmentonlyaslongasitretainsitsphysicalandelectricalintegrity.Thethermaldegradationofthevarnishresultsinweightloss,porosity,crazing,andgenerallyareductioninflexibility.Degradationofthevarnishcanbedetectedbyadecreaseindielectricstrength,whichisthereforeusedasthefailurecriterionforthistestmethod.Electricalinsulatingvarnishesundergoflexinginserviceduetovibrationandthermalexpansion.Forthisreason,thisfunctionaltestincludesflexingandelongationoftheinsulation.Theelectrodesusedinthistestmethodaredesignedtoelongatetheoutersurfaceofthespecimen2%withrespecttotheneutralaxisofthebasefiberwhilebeingtestedfordielectricbreakdown.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftherelativethermalenduranceofflexibleelectricalinsulatingvarnishesbydeterminingthetimenecessaryatelevatedtemperaturestodecreasethedielectricbreakdownofthevarnishtoanarbitrarilyselectedvaluewhenappliedtoastandardglassfiberfabric.1.2Thistestmethoddoesnotapplytovarnishesthatloseahighpercentageoftheirdielectricbreakdownvoltagewhenflexedbeforeelevatedtemperatureexposureasprescribedinthescreeningtest(Section9).Examplesofsuchvarnishesarethoseusedforhighspeedarmaturesandlaminatedstructures.Also,thistestmethodisnotapplicabletovarnisheswhichdistortsufficientlyduringthermalelevatedtemperatureexposuresothattheycannotbetestedusingthecurvedelectrodeassembly.1.3Thermalenduranceisexpressedintermsofatemperatureindex.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeSection7.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsarethestandard.ThereisnoequivalentIECorISOstandard.
